Metaforic Consumer Applications

Unlike many technologies, Metaforic's range of MetaFortress products have application across more than simply major Enterprise platforms- where high processor power-load, increased application size and code complexity can simply be absorbed by installing yet more PCs or Servers. In Consumer applications these are luxuries that rarely can be relied upon to absolve Application Protection or Anti-Tamper systems of their responsibilities to be unobtrusive and invisible to the user.

MetaFortress has been designed not just to run on devices with Megabytes or Gigabytes of memory or on storage systems that can hold the entire written works of the English language but on devices where such largess is simply impossible.

Cellular Phones- As smart phones become more complex, more connected and can run 3rd party applications their vulnerability to issues previously only seen in the PC and Enterprise sectors become more obvious; malware which alters Cellular OSs have been found spreading by MMS and Email, licensed embedded software IP can be removed from the device or during manufacture and commercially downloaded software can be stripped from their app store licenses. MetaFortress protects OS and Middleware from attack.

Set-Top Boxes- These too are much more connected than ever before. As the IPTV/ Cable/ Internet on TV revolution gathers pace, where previously Content Management could only be compromised by a changing a physical device such as a smart-card, as CMS technology moves to a software and networked management environment the opportunity for subversion increases significantly. Compromise of 3rd party IP licenses too are becoming prevalent, it is a simple matter to remove an EPG from a contract manufacturer's factory only for it to appear in an unlicensed STB. MetaFortress can ensure Middleware IP is only found on Licensed products.

Game Consoles- Amongst the most tech-savvy and time-rich consumers are hard-core gamers. This group is driven by the next big game release and can often be seduced b the idea of getting the latest game before release or to download games from piracy sites in order to own as many as possible. Bragging right can be king and some gamers can become the pirates themselves- "Sticking it to the man" is a major driver of some game hacks. But don't discount the casual gamer, a parent pestered beyond endurance for yet another game cartridge could be tempted by the free availability and zero cost of software from torrent sites. MetaFortress significantly reduces Game Piracy, extending revenue earning potential.
